Editorial policy

How these posts are made

Rules for sourcing claims about old games, disclosing AI assistance, and correcting mistakes. This applies to every page on this domain.

1. Who writes, who approves

Posts are published under the Brethren Adventure Archive Editorial Team. They are drafted with generative AI. Before a post is scheduled, the site owner reads it and approves its scope and the sources it lists. Posts have not been edited line by line by a human editor, and no individual is named as an author.

2. What counts as a source about an old game

  • The publisher's or developer's own site, store page, or re-release announcement.
  • A preservation project's official documentation — supported-game lists, compatibility notes, download pages.
  • An archive or museum that documents the history, with its own citations.
  • A reference work, used to confirm dates that a primary source also supports.

A blog repost, an aggregator, or a download index is not a source for a fact about a game. If a claim cannot be traced to one of the categories above, it is removed when found.

3. Availability claims have a date

Whether a specific game can be bought, is freeware, or has no legal route at all changes over time. Posts aim to say what was checked and when. Treat an availability statement as true for its date, not forever.

4. How AI is used

Generative AI writes the first draft of each post. It is instructed not to invent numbers, dates, quotations or first-hand experience, but a draft can still contain mistakes. Each post shows the label “AI draft, not edited” at its foot, so readers can see how it was produced. The owner's review checks that the sources are relevant to the topic; it does not re-verify every figure. Posts are also compared with their sources in a separate review, and a post in which that review finds a wrong figure, date or source is taken off the site until it is corrected.

5. Corrections

If you find an error, write to contact@brethren-et.com with the page address and your source. We correct the post, or take it off the site while it is being fixed.

6. What we will not publish

  • Links to unauthorised copies or cracked builds.
  • Reviews that read as advertising, or any content paid for by a publisher.
  • Content written on behalf of the domain's previous operator.
  • Anything about putting money on a game's outcome.
